This month, we’re proud to share several powerful updates that will significantly enhance your Cirrus experience. From bolstering security to refining user interfaces and increasing assessment flexibility, these updates are tailored to make your workflow smoother and more secure.
Enhanced Security with 2FA
We’ve rolled out Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for an extra layer of security during login. Now, Administrators and Authors can set up 2FA using apps like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, ensuring a safer login process for both the login page and SAML authentication.
Responsive New Login Page
Our vision of making Cirrus more flexible with responsive candidate delivery begins with a complete redesign of the login page. Fully responsive and visually appealing, the new design offers a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.

Stay Informed with the News Section
On top of that, we’ve added a News Section to the login page. Administrators can now post essential updates and announcements directly on the login screen. Managing the News Section is easy: go to Admin > Overview > News Management to keep your users informed.
Archiving Hierarchies
In response to user feedback we’ve introduced the ability to archive hierarchies. This feature hides archived hierarchies from most platform overviews, decluttering your workspace. The new Active Hierarchies Filter and improved search functionality further make it easy to find specific hierachies.
Flexible Sections
Building on our April release, we’re enhancing flexibility at the assessment form level. With checkboxes at the question level within each section, you can now include or exclude specific questions. This allows for highly customised assessments, enabling you to create tailored forms by selecting subsets of questions from a larger pool.
These updates are designed to make your experience with Cirrus more secure, efficient, and user-friendly.
Major upgrades coming to Marking!
Get ready for a groundbreaking update in June: our newly enhanced scoring page. This major update will revolutionise the marking process, saving valuable time and making it easier to assess complex open question types like Essays and File Responses.
Key features include:
- Quick annotations linked to criteria: Provide more precise and relevant feedback.
- Progress overviews: Track scoring progress by question or candidate.
- Audio and video feedback options: Offer richer, more personalised feedback.
- Ability to upload annotated files: Provide more detailed feedback.
- Keyboard shortcuts for swift navigation: Increases marking efficiency.
- Adjustable criteria during scoring: Adds flexibility to the scoring process.
- View and comment on colleagues’ scores and annotations: Facilitates collaborative scoring.
